San Francisco Giants fans at Oracle Park have spent much of the 2026 season complaining not about the team’s play on the field, but about the ballpark’s chicken tenders, which they say have shrunk even as the combo price stayed the same.
Here’s what to know
According to SFGATE, criticism of Oracle Park’s chicken tenders has persisted through much of the 2026 season. Fans say the tenders no longer look as substantial as they did in prior years, while the fries combo still costs $19.59 before tax.
Reddit users have posted comparison photos to back up that claim. One Reddit post reads: “The chicken tendies and garlic fries have fallen off so badly. Could you guys post food pics from past seasons? I swear, these used to be bigger and came on a fat tray. Am I going crazy??”
That sentiment has reached beyond ordinary fans. The Athletic’s Braves reporter Jesus Cano, a Bay Area native, shared a photo of his press-box order on X and wrote, “Is it me or were the portion of these much bigger a few years ago…”
NBC Sports Bay Area insider Alex Pavlovic has also brought up the topic repeatedly on the “Giants Talk” podcast. After ordering the tenders during the opening homestand, Pavlovic said on March 30: “Got them on Friday [March 27]. They were delicious, first of all, but they’re just small again.”
More background
Older photos have also prompted some fans to argue that the trays themselves may also be smaller. That has made the complaints feel like another example of shrinkflation frustrations people already associate with everyday food purchases.
SFGATE reported that Aramark, the team’s food-service operator since 2024, did not respond to interview requests about the chicken tenders at Oracle Park. The Giants declined SFGATE’s request to interview a team official and said the club had no comment.
What can be done?
Greater transparency about changes in suppliers, portion sizes, or preparation standards could address some of the complaints.
As Pavlovic put it on the podcast: “The chicken tenders are thinner than they’ve ever been.”
