“I’m grateful that we live in a city that has learned how to think big, embrace big opportunities to create big outcomes,” Sherman said. “That didn’t happen overnight. But when I look (downtown), there’s a lot of things that have happened over the last 20 years, and this project will build on that momentum.”….
Mayor Quinton Lucas called the stadium project a “game changer” for the city and downtown because it projects bringing millions of baseball fans to the heart of the city each summer.
He said that would lead to more visitors shopping at local stores and eating at local restaurants. “Imagine every summer night, 25,000 more people downtown, 25,000 more people in our museums, in our restaurants, our shops,” Lucas said. “Think about that, and think about how important investment that is for us in Kansas City.”
