The 2026 SF Giants didn’t provide a ton of hope for the future, but the young players who got called up at least showed some fight and played more competitive baseball later in the season. Bo Davidson was one of those players, and a recent Instagram story from him displayed the exact mindset he and the young players need to bring to the table next season.

Davidson posted a video of Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards talking about how teams need to look out for Minnesota in the upcoming season and Davidson put the caption: “Next year when yall see Giants come in town just know we on BS.”

Now, it may be a little bit silly to post something like that after the Giants just lost 97 games and didn’t pose much of a threat to anyone, but if the Giants are going to turn things around part of it is going to be due to the younger players in the locker room shifting the culture.

It’s not a coincidence that the Giants played better when veterans like Matt Chapman and Willy Adames were out. Whatever chemistry and vibe the younger guys brought to the table, many of them having played together in the minors, at least made for a more watchable brand of baseball even if the team’s record was still not pretty in the second half.

Giants need more fire and confidence in 2027 season

Maybe they need a little more swagger and cockiness even if there’s not much to be cocky about. Bryce Eldridge displayed that confidence in 2026, saying that he felt “sexy” at the plate when he was called up. Saying something like that 50 years ago would have earned him some chin music, but hardly anyone bats an eye in today’s game at something like that and to Eldridge’s credit he backed it up and has a very solid rookie season.

Davidson seems to have a similar belief in himself so perhaps he and Eldridge can sort of be at the vanguard of young Giants players infusing some life into a locker room that seemed to be sorely lacking any sort of spark or fire in the first half.

That won’t necessarily lead to better results right away, but the belief has to come at some point. If it takes the young players playing with a swagger that may not match the team’s record then so be it because whatever happened in 2026 did not work. A little self-delusion can be helpful at times in sports so let’s hope Davidson and some of the young players on next year’s team bring some fire and swagger that rubs off on everyone else.
