Legends Global will serve as the Royals’ owners’ rep on their project to build a 34,000-seat stadium in the heart of Kansas City.

The $1.9B venue’s ceremonial groundbreaking is expected in early 2027 ahead of opening in 2030. The open-air ballpark will sit amid an 85-acre mixed-use development at Crown Center, just south of downtown Kansas City. The Royals are partnering with Hallmark Cards on the development; the total investment in the stadium and surrounding real estate is $3B.

The Royals project — designed by Populous and built by a Mortenson/McCownGordon joint venture — adds to an already busy slate of work for Legends Global’s owners’ rep vertical, which a year ago was bolstered by the acquisition of Nations Group.

Legends Global is also steering venue projects for the Mavericks, the Rays, and the Univ. of Kansas’ David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, and has wrapped up (or mostly wrapped up) large-scale projects for the Bills and Blue Jays.
