Rocco Baldelli (45), a former coach of the year, voluntarily stepped down from the Seattle Mariners’ coaching list.

Ken Rosenthal, a columnist specializing in the Major League of “The Athletic,” quoted a source on the 26th (Korea Standard Time) and delivered the news of Baldelli.

According to the report, Baldelli chose to step down from the Mariners’ coaching list due to family circumstances.

Baldelli was appointed as the manager of the Minnesota Twins in 2019 and posted a record of 527 wins and 505 losses over seven years.

He has led his team to three district wins, especially in 2023 when he won the Toronto Blue Jays and the wild-card series, giving him his first postseason series victory since 2006.

He was named the American League Manager of the Year for leading Minnesota, a rebuilding team, to fall baseball in 2019, his first year in charge.

After recording 70 wins and 92 losses in the 2025 season, he stepped down as coach. In the 2026 season, he played a special assistant role with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Seattle, which failed to advance to the postseason in 2026 after advancing to the Championship Series in the 2025 season, has been looking for a new replacement since coach Dan Wilson stepped down.

Currently, former Seattle Mariners coach Joe Espada and Chicago Cubs player development director Jason Canzler are on the list.
