Brewers fever drives record MLB postseason merchandise sales

MADISON (WKOW) — Milwaukee has set a new record for the most merchandise sales in MLB postseason history.

Stores are working overtime to keep up with demand, and it’s not just retailers cashing in. Home-based businesses are also getting a boost from Brewers fever.

Brewers owner Mark Attanasio shared the news with MLB reporter Bob Nightengale on Saturday, before Game 2 of the NLCS.

Here in Madison, Brianna Richard has turned her excitement into custom-embroidered sweaters and T-shirts.

Her first postseason design featured Bucky Badger in overalls, holding a baseball bat.

“I love the Badger gear, and I feel like that’d be a perfect marriage of Milwaukee and Madison together,” Richard said.

When she shared it online, the orders started rolling in.

“I woke up and I just kept, like, my phone kept going off for, like, order after order after order,” Richard said.

Richard says she’s seeing the excitement firsthand.

One customer showed up wearing her Brewers jersey and ready for Game 1 on Friday.

“And she’s like, ‘You have my order ready?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, like, it’s ready.’ It’s like pitch black outside, but just seeing how excited she was … I feel like it was really cool,” Richard said.

With the Crew’s postseason run continuing, suppliers are hoping they can keep up with fans’ demand for Brewers gear.
