The Seibu Lions announced on the 3rd that they have notified developmental players Kyazze Fred (23), a pitcher from Uganda, and Carlos Tovar (23), an outfielder from Slovenia, that their contracts will not be renewed for the next season.
Both players participated in last year’s autumn camp as trainees and signed developmental player contracts for the 2026 season after the camp concluded. This season, they had been dispatched to the BC League’s Shinano Grandserows.
It was the first time for an NPB team to sign players from Slovenia and Uganda.
