South Bend Cubs

The South Bend Cubs were losing to the Great Lakes Loons (Dodgers), 2-1 when the rains came. They’ll finish the game tomorrow and then play the regularly-scheduled game afterwards.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans defused the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (White Sox), 5-3 in ten innings.

Alfredo Romero started and pitched five innings, allowing just one run on four hits. Romero walked two and struck out six.

Cole Reynolds threw the next 3+ innings and gave up just one run on one hit, one walk and one hit batter. He struck out four.

Jackson Kirkpatrick relieved Reynolds in the bottom of the ninth after Reynolds allowed a leadoff single. Kirkpatrick allowed that inherited runner to score to blow the save and send the game to extras. But Kirkpatrick went on to get the win after the Pelicans scored three runs in the top of the tenth. Kirkpatrick allowed one unearned run on one hit over two innings. He struck out five and walked one.

First baseman Cameron Sisneros was activated off the injured list today and he celebrated by hitting a three-run home run in the top of the tenth. It was his second home run of the year. Sisneros went 3 for 5 with a double and the home run. He scored three runs.

Third baseman Matt Halbach went 1 for 2 with three walks.

Here’s an RBI single by second baseman Ty Southisene. He was 1 for 4 with a walk.

And here’s the Sisneros home run. The right fielder didn’t move on this one. Or if he did, it was just to admire the view.
