The Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres play game two of their three-game series in Milwaukee tonight. The Brewers will attempt to even the series after their offense disappeared in the first game, one that San Diego won 2-0 after a somewhat lucky performance by starter Randy Vásquez, who was followed by a slew of high-velocity relievers. Chad Patrick was the tough-luck loser for the Brewers after another excellent outing.

Tonight, Milwaukee will send veteran Jose Quintana back to the mound for his second appearance since coming off the IL on June 1st. He allowed two runs in five innings in that outing, a 5-2 win over the Phillies in Philadelphia, but he was uncharacteristically wild, with four walks in five innings perhaps betraying a bit of rust from his longer-than-usual layoff between outings.

San Diego will counter with Stephen (Not Tyler) Kolek. Kolek, 28, is in his second major league season; last year, he made 42 appearances out of San Diego’s bullpen and had a 5.21 ERA but a much better 3.57 FIP. This season, he’s switched over to starting, and while his peripheral numbers are mildly concerning (his strikeouts are down and walks are up as a starter), he did throw one of this season’s only shutouts, when he pitched all nine innings of a lopsided 21-0 victory over the Rockies on May 10th.

Fernando Tatís Jr., who led off yesterday’s game, is out of the lineup tonight. The Padres will move Xander Bogaerts into the leadoff spot instead. Brice Turang takes leadoff duties for the Brewers today, and Isaac Collins gets the start in left field; the rest of the lineup features the team’s typical starters.

National TV tonight, as the game is on Fox. You can also catch it on the Brewers Radio Network. First pitch at 6:35 p.m.
