LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – It’s the second biggest weekend of the year for high school baseball, with multiple Mid-Michigan teams capturing regional titles and following it up with a trip to the state semifinals.
In D1, Okemos dropped a battle 2-1 to Hartland in the regional finals. In D2 Mason beat Williamston 6-1 for the Bulldogs’ first regional title and then followed that up with a 3-2 victory in 10 innings over Chelsea in the quarterfinals.
In Division three, Lansing Catholic took down Saginaw Valley Lutheran 2-0 to grab a regional title but lost 10-4 in the quarters to Marine City. Jackson Lumen Christi took down Onsted 2-1 in nine innings in the regional finals, but the Titans fell to University Liggett 2-0 in the quarterfinals. Olivet captured a regional title with a 3-1 win over Bridgman and then followed that up with a 2-1 victory over Watervliet in the quarterfinals.
Finally, in D4 Portland St. Pat’s won its regional final 5-4 over Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy in 12 innings and then beat Maple City Glen Lake 9-0 to advance to the state semifinals. Vermontville Maple Valley had its season end with a 14-2 loss to Petersburg Summerfield in the regional finals.
