Star shortstop Francisco Lindor shone in New York’s latest win despite a broken toe. The 31-year-old infielder went 3-for-5 with zero strikeouts. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that he was able to steal a couple of bases along the way.
Lindor’s success on the basepaths earned him some praise from Mets manager Carlos Mendoza.
“He’s a player, he’s not going to back down,” Mendoza said after the game (h/t SNY). “If he’s in the lineup he’s not going to use that as an excuse… not surprised by it.”

Lindor’s toe issue hasn’t stopped him from making things happen in the Rockies series. During the Mets’ 4-2 victory over Colorado in the series opener on Friday, Lindor came off the bench to pinch-hit in the ninth inning and belted a clutch two-run double that put the Mets ahead for good.

So far in the 2025 MLB regular season, the four-time All-Star is batting .289/.360/.498 with 14 home runs and 11 doubles through 63 games. He leads the Mets with 13 stolen bases, just two more than second baseman LuisangelAcuña, who has 11 to date.
It remains to be seen whether Lindor will be able to start anew for the Mets in the series finale versus Colorado this Sunday, but considering his performance on Saturday, he can be expected to be healthy enough to see action.
New York will look to sweep the Rockies with Tylor Megill expected to start for the Mets. Meanwhile, the Rockies have Chase Dollander as their probable starter on Sunday.
