The Colorado Rockies are looking to avoid being swept on the heels of sweeping the Miami Marlins. They held the New York Mets to a score of 4-2 on Friday night — which only broke because Francisco Lindor doubled to drive in Juan Soto and Pete Alonso in the ninth — but were drummed yesterday by a score of 8-1 after going 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position (their only run came on a Ryan McMahon solo homer in the seventh).
Chase Dollander (2-5, 6.26 ERA) will get the start for the Rockies on the mound. Dollander was placed on the IL earlier this year with forearm tightness, but came off on June 3 against the Miami Marlins in the second game of the three-game sweep. He threw just three innings in the 3-2 victory, allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and one strikeout. He did not factor into the win.
Dollander will face Mets’ right-hander Tylor Megill (4-4, 3.77 ERA). The 29=year-old was drafted by the Mets in the eighth round of the 2018 MLB Draft and made his MLB debut on June 23, 2021. Today marks his 13th start of 2025. In his last start against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Megill threw six innings and allowed four runs (all in the first inning) on four hits with seven strikeouts and a walk. He did not factor into the 6-5 loss. Megill has faced the Rockies twice — once at Coors Field and once at Citi Field. He is 0-1 with a 7.27 ERA against them. Last time he was at Coors, he allowed six runs on 10 hits with two doubles, two walks and three strikeouts over four innings of work on May 28, 2023. In his other outing at Citi Field earlier that year, he threw 4 2⁄3 innings and allowed three runs on six hits with a hit batter, three walks and four strikeouts.
