There are a few certainties in life right now: death, taxes, and the 2025 New York Mets dismantling the Colorado Rockies, and Sunday was no different. The Mets brought the bats once again, cruising to a 13-5 win in the series finale at Coors Field and completing a clean 6-0 sweep of the season series.

The offense kept firing on all cylinders. Jeff McNeil led the way with two home runs; a solo shot in the second and a three-run blast in the fourth. Pete Alonso added to the fireworks with his 242nd and 243rd career homers as a Met, tying and then surpassing David Wright for second place on the franchise’s all-time list.

Brett Baty launched a two-run homer in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Francisco Alvarez, who went deep himself, Juan Soto, and Ronny Mauricio, each recorded multi-hit games, with Alvarez collecting two RBIs and Soto logging his second straight three-hit performance, along with reaching base six times. Tyrone Taylor also chipped in with an RBI double.

On the mound, Tylor Megill delivered a strong outing with five innings of three-hit, two-run ball with five strikeouts, continuing his recent turnaround after a rough patch in May. Paul Blackburn handled the rest, allowing three runs on seven hits in relief for his first career save.

Thanks to the Philadelphia Phillies being swept in Pittsburgh by the Pirates, the Mets’ victory pushes their lead to 4 1/2 games over Philadelphia in the National League East. The win also extends their cushion over the Braves to 14 games, after Atlanta was swept by the Giants in San Francisco.

Statistic of the Game: Juan Soto Stars

Juan Soto becomes the third player in Mets history with at least three hits, three runs scored, and three walks in the same game. He joins a list that features Carl Everett and Lenny Randle. Sunday’s game was also the first time Soto has reached base six times in his career, as noted by Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

Player of the Game: Jeff McNeil

Jeff McNeil wrapped up a stellar weekend at the plate with a dominant showing at Coors Field, launching two home runs as part of a 3-for-5 day that included four RBIs and three runs scored. Throughout the series, McNeil went 5-for-12 with three homers and five RBIs, going deep on consecutive days to close out the set.
