Sunday notes…
A POTENTIAL RARITY: The Cubs have not swept a series at Milwaukee since Oct. 2-4, 2015. This is their 25th series there since then. Before Friday and Saturday, the Cubs had not even won the first two games of a series at Milwaukee in 17 series, since Sept. 21-22, 2017. They lost the third game, then won a fourth. They had lost the opener of four straight series, 10 of 11 and 13 of 15. Their record in series at Milwaukee from 2018-24 was 3-13-1. (Courtesy BCB’s JohnW53)
DAY vs. NIGHT: Their win last night was the Cubs’ 38th at night at Miller Park/American Family Field. They have lost 62 games under the lights there. A win today would be their 38th at the park in the daytime — against just 37 losses. (Courtesy BCB’s JohnW53)
ROAD WARRIORS: The Cubs’ 12-6 record on the road is the best of any team. The Athletics, at 12-7, are the only other team with even two more wins than losses on the road. The Giants are 10-8; the Reds, 9-7; and the Mariners, 8-6. The Diamondbacks and Mets are 9-8. The Dodgers are 8-7. The Yankees are 8-8 and the Padres, 7-7. That leaves 21 teams with losing records away from home. (Courtesy BCB’s JohnW53)
DANSBY, HEATING UP: Dansby Swanson, last 10 games since April 22: .308/.357/.615 (12-for-39) with a double, a triple, three home runs, two stolen bases and 11 runs scored.

Shōta Imanaga left last Tuesday’s game in Pittsburgh and all Cubs fans held their breath until it was revealed it was just leg cramps and he was deemed healthy to make this start, so that’s good news.
The bad news is that Shōta faced the Brewers just once last year, in Milwaukee (May 29) and it was one of his worst starts of 2024, seven runs allowed in fewer than five innings, with two home runs. Hopefully he’s figured that out.
Freddy Peralta. Seems like he’s been a Brewer forever, right? This is his eighth MLB season — and he’s still 28 (turns 29 next month).
He has had a good 2025 season so far, with a 2.52 ERA and 1.068 WHIP in seven starts. Last year he did just about that in three starts against the Cubs: 2.55 ERA, 1.019 WHIP.
So we should look for a low-scoring affair this afternoon. (You know it rarely works out that way when you expect that sort of thing.)
