GATE CITY, Va. (WCYB) — The Gate City Blue Devils have announced the hiring of their new head baseball coach, Luke Francisco, adding an intriguing twist to their rivalry with Abingdon. Francisco, the son of Abingdon Falcons head coach Mark Francisco, will take the helm at Gate City.
Luke Francisco brings a wealth of experience to the position, having played under his father at Abingdon, where he was part of teams that twice finished as Class 3 state runners-up. He continued his baseball career at Carson Newman and has served as an assistant coach at Jefferson County High School.
Francisco steps into the role following the departure of Austin Arnold, who resigned after three years as head coach of the Blue Devils.
