The Yankees had an up-and-down week, winning their series against the Guardians before dropping two of three to the Red Sox in lackluster fashion. While the offense was difficult to come by in the Cleveland series and the pitching kept things in check, the total opposite happened against Boston: the lineup put up a total of 23 runs but only won a single game because they gave up 27 themselves.
The team is sitting firmly in first place still, but it’s by no means a massive lead, and there’s a lot of flaws for a team meant to be a top contender. Where would you place this Yankees squad amongst their AL competitors as we’re getting into the first real checkpoint of the season? Has the team failed their first real test as the calendar has turned towards stronger competition, or is this just a rough patch? If you have questions like this, or anything else on your mind, send ‘em in for a chance to be featured in our Yankees mailbag.
Answers will run on Friday afternoon. All questions received by the night of June 12th will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
