The Mets signed veteran outfielder Travis Jankowski Tuesday to a minor-league deal, and he will report to Triple-A Syracuse. In a separate move, Francisco Alvarez was placed on the paternity list and catcher Hayden Senger was called up from Syracuse.

Jankowski, 33, has already played for the White Sox and Rays this year, hitting .244/.286/.289 in 49 plate appearances combined for the two clubs. The Rays granted him free agency last week. The career .236 hitter has played for eight teams in his 10-year career, including 43 games with the Mets in 2022. Soon after leaving the Mets, Jankowski made an impact with the Texas Rangers in 2023, producing 1.2 fWAR in a reserve role as the team went on to win a World Series.

Alvarez Goes on Paternity Leave

Alvarez, 23, is hitting .255/.333/.343 with two home runs and 10 RBIs. He is 7-for-21 with a home run in June. He’s becoming a first-time father and will return to the team within three games.

Senger, 28, made his MLB debut with the Mets earlier this year when Alvarez started the season on the injured list. He went 5-for-28 (.179) with a double backing up Luis Torrens and was sent back to the minors when Alvarez returned from an injury.
