Charlotte Knights 7, Durham Bulls 6 (Statcast box)
The Charlotte Knights (32-32) staged a comeback to secure the victory over the Durham Bulls. The Knights got on the scoreboard early in the second inning when Bryan Ramos launched his seventh home run of the season, putting Charlotte up 1-0.

After the Bulls took the lead, the Knights battled back to tie the game in the fourth. Korey Lee led off with a double, and Dominic Fletcher followed with a two-bagger of his own, driving in Lee to knot the score at 2-2.

Despite falling behind again in the middle innings, the Knights’ offense exploded in the seventh. Lee ignited the rally with his third homer of the year, followed by Corey Julks’ sixth home run, a two-run shot that brought Charlotte within a single run. Tristan Gray then blasted his eighth solo shot, immediately tying the game at 6-6.

The decisive blow came in the top of the ninth when Gray delivered a sacrifice fly, scoring Brooks Baldwin, who went 4-for-5, and putting the Knights ahead for good.

Tyler Schweitzer didn’t help out his ERA (9.00) in this contest, as he allowed five runs on three hits with four free passes and four Ks. Tyler Gilbert gave up the only other tally in his one inning of work. Penn Murfee, Caleb Freeman, and Justin Anderson combined to hold the Bulls scoreless for the remainder of the game.

Birmingham Barons 12, Montgomery Biscuits 3
The Birmingham Barons (32-25) offense absolutely dominated the Montgomery Biscuits. The Barons wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning when Jacob Gonzalez’s single drove in Ryan Galanie. They extended their lead to 2-0 as DJ Gladney stole second, allowing Gonzalez to score on a throwing error. In the second, with the bases loaded, another throwing error allowed Calvin Harris, who walked, and Rikuu Nishida, who slapped a single, to score, pushing Birmingham’s lead to 4-0.

The Barons continued to pile on the runs in the later innings, effectively putting the game out of reach. In the seventh, Gonzalez and Gladney each singled to drive in runs, making it a 6-0 ballgame. The ninth inning saw the bats explode, starting with Gladney’s single that scored William Bergolla. The best part of the frame was Caden Connor’s grand slam, which also happened to be his first home run of the season, extending the lead to 11-2. Jason Matthews then capped off the Barons’ scoring spree with a solo jack.

Overall, the pitching was solid. Shane Murphy tossed seven efficient innings, allowing only two runs, on one hit and one walk while striking out five. The southpaw is now 5-3 on the year with an impressive 1.87 ERA over 53 innings. Jarold Rosado closed out the game, surrendering one tally in the final frame.

The Birmingham Barons get the 12-3 win over the Montgomery Biscuits tonight.

Winston-Salem Dash 4, Bowling Green Hot Rods 2
The Dash (22-36) wasted no time making their mark, as Sam Antonacci, Jeral Perez, and Braden Montgomery launched back-to-back-to-back solo bombs in the very first inning, giving Winston-Salem a speedy 3-0 lead.

Samuel Zavala added to the long ball display with his own solo shot in the sixth, extending the Dash’s advantage to 4-0.

On the mound, Jake Bockenstedt effectively stifled the Hot Rods’ offense. He delivered a dominant performance, throwing six shutout innings, allowing only two hits, and striking out six. Phil Fox closed out the game in the ninth, securing his second save of the season.

Columbia Fireflies 8, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 7 (10 innings)
The Cannon Ballers fell to the Fireflies in a close, extra-inning battle. Kanny got to it in the top of the first when Javier Mogollón, who was hit by a pitch and then stole second, scored on a fielding error by the Fireflies’ shortstop. The Ballers extended their lead in the fourth inning when George Wolkow blasted a two-run tank, his sixth of the season, bringing the score to 3-1. The 19-year-old has been on fire in June, slashing .407/484/.630. It’s great to see him finally heat up after a really cool start.

The score flipped when the Fireflies plated two in both the fifth and sixth frames. Then, trailing by three in the eighth, Lyle Miller-Green launched a two-run dinger, narrowing the gap to 6-5. The offense kept it going as Wolkow drew a walk, T. J. McCants moved him to third on a single, and he proceeded to score on a pickoff error, tying the game at 6-6 and ultimately sending it into extra innings. In the top of the tenth, Mikey Kane singled to center, scoring Wolkow as the ghost runner and briefly put the Cannon Ballers ahead 7-6. However, the Fireflies rallied in the bottom of the tenth, and secured the walk-off victory.

On the pitching side, Seth Keener started for the Cannon Ballers, earning a no-decision after giving up four runs over 4 2⁄3 innings. The 23-year-old has had a tough year adjusting to High-A, as he’s only had two starts where he’s given up less than three runs. Kevin Davis took the mound for the tenth and earned the loss, giving up two tallies in the bottom of the inning.

ACL White Sox 3, ACL Brewers 2 (Tuesday, 7 innings)
The ACL Sox initially took the lead in the second inning when Angelo Hernández launched his first blast of the season, putting them up 1-0. However, the Brewers responded in the fifth, off righthander Garrett Wright and took a 2-1 lead.

The ACL Sox mounted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh. Hernández led off with a two-bagger, and Mason Dinesen followed with a double of his own, driving in Hernández to tie the game at 2-2. The winning run came on a throwing error by the Brewers’ third baseman, which allowed Dinesen to score, giving the White Sox a 3-2 lead for the walk-off win.

On the pitching side, Denny Lima was impressive through four scoreless frames with eight Ks. The ACL Sox’s bullpen was also instrumental in holding the Brewers at bay. Jesús Méndez pitched some solid middle relief, and Gil Luna provided a strong seventh inning, preventing the Brewers from extending their lead further and setting the stage for the Sox’s late-game heroics.

ACL Angels 7, ACL White Sox 2 (Monday, 7 innings)
Despite seven hits, the ACL Sox could only muster two tallies. Their first run came in the second inning when Marcelo Ácala walked, stole second, and then advanced home on a pickoff throwing error. The White Sox added their second run in the third inning thanks to a solo home run by Leandro Alsinois, his third of the season. After that, the bats went silent.

The pitching struggled from the get-go. Starter Jeremy González surrendered three runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout over just two frames. The only hurler to go unscathed was reliever Gray Thomas, who tossed 1 1⁄3 innings of hitless and scoreless ball.
