PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – The Pittsburgh Pirates re-signed relief pitcher Tanner Rainey to a minor league contract on Tuesday.
He will report to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Rainey was designated for assignment by Pittsburgh just over a week ago, but cleared waivers.
He has appeared in eleven games with Pittsburgh this season, posting a record of 0-1 with a 10.57 ERA. In 7.2 innings, he has nine strikeouts.
Prior to signing a minor league deal with the Pirates this past offseason, Rainey previously pitched in Major League Baseball with the Reds and Nationals.
The right-hander owns a career MLB record of 5-11 with a 5.44 ERA.
