The Mets signed veteran outfielder and old friend Travis Jankowski to a minor-league deal earlier today. The left-handed batting Jankowski has played for eight teams in his career, most recently starting this year with the Tampa Bay Rays. Jankowski appeared in 43 games for the Mets in 2022, and is a lifetime .236/.318/.305 hitter. He can play all three-outfield positions well, has a decent knack for taking a walk and, if promoted, will likely not take up too much playing time from the usual trio of Tyrone Taylor, Brandon Nimmo, and Juan Soto.

The Mets also placed Francisco Alvarez on the paternity list and recalled catcher Hayden Senger to take his place on the active roster. Senger had an impressive spring and played in 13 games for the Mets while Alvarez was dealing with a broken hamate bone. We wish the best of luck to Alvarez and family on the birth of their new child!
