Which Yankees prospects could be on the move at the trade deadline? originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

With the MLB Draft one month away and the trade deadline not far behind, now’s the time to reassess the Yankees’ farm system—not just for what it might produce, but what it might help acquire. Several of the organization’s top prospects are turning heads with strong first halves, while others remain high-upside question marks who could become key pieces in July deals.

After talking with scouts and evaluators, here’s a look at the Yankees’ top 10 prospects—who they are, where they stand, and what role they might play in the next phase of the season.

1. SS George Lombard Jr.
The 2023 first-round pick just turned 20 and is already at Double-A Somerset. His glove and speed have held up, but the bat is catching up—he hit just .200 in his first 29 games at the level, though his .344 OBP suggests growth. Opposing teams keep asking about him in trade talks, but the Yankees see a long-term piece.

2. CF Spencer Jones
The 6-foot-7 former first-rounder remains a riddle. He’s flashed power and athleticism, but he’s hitting around .220 at Double-A with a strikeout rate near 45 percent. Scouts still believe, but if the Yankees need rotation help this summer, he’s a name to watch in trade rumors.

3. RHP Cam Schlittler
After dominating at Somerset (2.38 ERA, 64 K in 53 IP), Schlittler tossed five strong innings in his Triple-A debut last week. Quietly emerging as the most polished arm in the system.

4. RHP Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz
Acquired from Boston last winter, the 21-year-old has a 2.00 ERA with High-A Hudson Valley and 66 strikeouts in 55 innings. The stuff is real, and the strikeout rate is even better.

5. RHP Carlos Lagrange
A strikeout machine with 203 punchouts in his first 143 ⅓ pro innings. Recently promoted to Somerset, where he opened with six K’s in six innings.

6. LHP Griffin Herring
The sixth-rounder from LSU has surged with a 1.21 ERA at Tampa and a dominant start to his Somerset stint. He’s walked just 16 while striking out 58 in 44 â…” innings.

7. RHP Ben Hess
Big-bodied righty out of Alabama still finding consistency at Hudson Valley. High ceiling, but development is ongoing.

8. SS Roderick Arias
Signed for $4 million in 2022, Arias is now hitting below .200 at Tampa. He still has speed and upside, but he’s on the clock. Could be a change-of-scenery trade chip.

9. LHP Brock Selvidge
Missed the second half of 2023 and opened this month with one Double-A start after ramping up at lower levels. Still in the Yankees’ long-term plans.

10. RHP Bryce Cunningham
Was 5-1 with a 1.93 ERA for Hudson Valley before a recent return from injury. He went back on the IL after one start last week.
