On Tuesday, the Roswell Invaders hosted the Tucson Saguaros for a doubleheader. These were the final two games of a three-game series.

The Invaders entered the doubleheader with a 3-7 record, while the Saguaros had a 9-2 record. The first game in the series was on Monday, with the Saguaros winning 13-6. The doubleheader was created after Sunday’s game was moved to Tuesday, and Tuesday already had a game. Also, due to this being a doubleheader, the games played were only seven innings instead of the usual nine.

In the first game the Saguaros were dominant early on, gaining an 8-0 lead by the end of the third inning. The game would even out after that, with the Invaders outscoring the Saguaros for the rest of the game, but the Saguaros still won with a tally of 9-2. Game totals for game one were the Saguaros leading both hits with 11 compared to the Invaders’ six, while both teams committed two errors.

The Invaders’ six hits came from different batters, hence they all tied for the most. Matt Lopez (13) started the game on the mound but was pulled early without getting a single out. Gerson Cadzillia (3) would come in to pitch the rest of the game with 7.0 innings pitched, struck out five batters, walked one, allowed 11 hits and eight runs. Lopez (13) was considered the losing pitcher.

Jacob Elizondo (8) and starting pitcher Derek Cabrera (15) led the Saguaros in hits, with Anthony Manisero (27) also getting a home run. Cabrera pitched 7.0 innings, struck out five batters, walked two, allowed six hits and two runs. He threw the whole game and was declared the winning pitcher.

In game two the Invaders were the better team early, obtaining a 7-4 lead by the end of the fourth inning. That lead would be short-lived, as the Saguaros would score four runs at the top of the fifth, leaving the tally at 9-7. This score would hold for the rest of the game, making the Saguaros the winners. With this victory Tucson is on a six-game winning streak. The team totals for the game were the Saguaros leading in hits with 12 compared to the Invaders. The Invaders had four errors while the Saguaros had none.

Three Invaders hitters tied for the most hits with three, while Shane Marrow (16) and Maikol Perez (44) each had a home run. Connor Wilt (9) started the game for the Invaders, and he pitched 5.0 innings, struck out five batters, walked zero, allowed 12 hits and nine runs. Two other pitchers were on the mound as well, but Wilt (9) was considered the losing pitcher.

Manisero (27) and Patrick Music (18) led the Saguaros in hits with three. Manisero (27) would also hit his second home run of the day. Blake Garrett (48) started the game on the mound, and he pitched 3.2 innings, struck out three batters, walked three, allowed eight hits and seven runs. Two other pitchers would finish the game, with Nate Sanders (28) considered the winner.
