WASHINGTON — Fort Madison High School won a Southeast Conference baseball game 6-4 Thursday at Washington’s Dick Sojka Field.
Fort Madison scored once in the second and two more in the sixth.
Down 3-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Demons knotted the game with two singles, two walks and a double.
The top of the eighth inning saw two of six errors by the Demons happen.
An intentional walk followed to load the bases. It was 5-3 after Owen Huffman singled in two runs on an 1-2 pitch. Brody Cashman scored on a wild pitch for a 6-3 Bloodhounds lead.
In the bottom of the eighth a hit batter would come around to score but only one other Demon reached base.
Washington had seven hits to six for Fort Madison.
Huffman limited the home team to no runs on four hits, two balls and four strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings. Micheal Fuller relieved and threw two and a third innings with three hits, four runs, three of which were earned. He walked two and fanned one.
The Bloodhounds next action is a league doubleheader with Mount Pleasant in Fort Madison.
