Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter only had 87 MLB games under his belt before Friday’s bout with the Chicago White Sox, but he’s experienced plenty of highs and lows.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 190-pounder slashed .306/.413/.645 with five homers and 12 RBI across 23 games to kick off his career in 2023. He then slashed .300/.417/.500 with one homer and six RBI across 17 playoff contests, helping the Rangers win their first-ever championship.

However, Carter followed that up with a .188/.272/.361 with five homers and 15 RBI across 45 games in 2024. The 22-year-old then turned things around this season only to leave Friday’s game with an injury.

He appeared to jam his wrist while making a diving catch in center field during the fourth inning, via MLB.com’s Kennedi Landry. Texas replaced him with outfielder Sam Haggerty in the seventh.

The Rangers later announced that he left with wrist soreness, via Landry. He’ll continue to be evaluated.

Carter finished the night 0-for-2 with a walk, and is now slashing .283/.368/.517 with four homers and 10 RBI across 20 contests.

Texas won the game 3-1 and used seven pitchers in the process. Right-hander Shawn Armstrong opened the night with a scoreless three innings before fellow right-hander Jacob Webb earned the win with another two shutout frames.

Right-hander Luke Jackson, southpaw Hoby Milner, right-hander Chris Martin, and right-hander Cole Winn all notched holds before southpaw Ryan Garcia earned his fifth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.

The Rangers would clinch a series win with a victory over the White Sox on Saturday.
