The Los Angeles Dodgers have seen a fair share of injuries to the pitching staff this season, and it has impacted the team on the field. The Dodgers may be looking to add at the trade deadline this season due to this, and it seems that they could be big-game hunting once again.

According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Dodgers are looking at going after Miami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara. Alcantara returned to the mound after Tommy John surgery and has slowly looked like the dominant ace that he is.
“Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara is starting to look like himself again after undergoing Tommy John surgery, with his fastball (97.6-mph) and command returning just in time to get traded. Alcantara, who’s yielding a 1.50 ERA in his last two starts compared to 8.47 in his first 11 starts, should be the No. 1 trade piece on the market. The Dodgers, who have plenty of prospects, are one of the teams lurking”
If Los Angeles could land Alcantara, it could drastically improve the starting rotation. Los Angeles entered the year with all sorts of options in the rotation, but injuries have completely derailed that fact.

The Dodgers have the prospects to make a deal happen, and Miami could be looking to sell high on the starter. This could be a solid match for Los Angeles ahead of the trade deadline.
Alcantara could add to the already impressive list of pitchers on the Dodgers roster. Adding him to a rotation of Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Clayton Kershaw, and others could be electric for the team.
But the biggest question for Los Angeles down the stretch of the season could be who will be available come playoff time. Even with the Dodgers winning the World Series last year, Los Angeles was essentially down to three starters by playoff time.
