The Gordon Lee baseball team adopted the mantra of “no-flinch” in 2025. No matter what would happen in games, the team just kept playing.

They played their way all the way to a state championship as the no-flinch Trojans swept Pepperell in the GHSA Class A Division I state championship series.

The formula in the title series was the same as their postseason run. Starting with their ace in game one.

Aiden Goodwin has been a star pitcher for Gordon Lee all season long and it would be no different in Rome, GA on Monday. The senior would go the distance only letting up two runs.

The Dragons scored their pair in the top of the fourth, and like their mantra, Gordon Lee didn’t flinch.

A two RBI single from Brady Little, his second and third of the game, proved to be the difference as the Trojans jumped back in front 4-2. They’d add an insurance run in the sixth and would close out the 5-2 victory.

Maddox Millard got the ball to start game two and battled as the teams exchanged leads in the early goings.

Gordon Lee scored a pair in the top of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. Their four runs in the fifth really made a difference as they were able to build a 7-2 lead.

Closing out championships can be tough. Monday was proof. Pepperell grinded their way back into the ballgame with the aid of three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull within one. Jackson Scali, who came into the game in relief, got a strikeout to end the inning to keep Gordon Lee in front.

The seventh was less drama as Scali only allowed a runner on first as he closed out the 7-6 win and state championship for his team.

The title is Gordon Lee’s fifth state baseball title and first since 2019. The Trojans have now won three state championships since 2018.Â
