This was the second game in June in which the Angels gave up 11 runs, as they lost 11-9 to the Boston Red Sox on June 4. However, their offense was held scoreless after the third inning on Sunday.
Additionally, Los Angeles outfielder Taylor Ward got into a spat with outfield coach Bo Porter after a defensive play in the fourth inning, via The Orange County Register’s Jeff Fletcher.

Ward fielded a single by Ramon Laureano and threw the ball to second base instead of attempting to throw Gunnar Henderson out at home.
“Outfield coach Bo Porter had an animated conversation with Taylor Ward before he even got back into the dugout after this,” Fletcher reported. “Certainly looked like he could have charged it a little more aggressively and held the runner at 3B or had a chance to throw him out.”
Angels fans weren’t happy with Ward on social media.

“Taylor Ward thinks he’s Juan Soto. Hint, he’s not Juan Soto,” one person said.
“Hate to say this, Ward is a solid player, but in my opinion, he doesn’t have baseball smarts,” another said.
“You mean the catcher turned 3B turned LF is not a good outfielder?” one asked.
“Need him so traded so so badly,” another said.
“Ward is actually aggravating to watch,” another said.
