WOODLAWN — The PPRD effect was all-in Thursday on the diamond as the No. 2 seed Magnet Cove Lady Panthers dominated the No. 3 seed Foreman 19-0 in opening round play in the 2A-4 Regional Softball Tournament in Woodlawn.
The Lady Panthers officially are returning to compete at the 2025 Class 2A state tournament next week hosted in Palestine-Wheatley.
Magnet Cove was impressive in their first round win against the Foreman Lady Gators. The Lady Panthers ignited 19 runs on five hits and drove in 12 runs for 12 RBIs as a dominant unit on the diamond.
Jordan Amerson homered with Ava Herrington, Madison Schlosser and Cara Roberts each connecting for a hit apiece in the frame.
Tayla Tanaka earned the victory in the circle and recorded seven strikeouts from her three inning damage to ignite the strike zone across the plate.
Magnet Cove advances to Friday’s semifinals round at regionals in Woodlawn.
