MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: The Yankees got shut out for the third straight game on Tuesday, in an abysmal effort against an Angels team that isn’t looking like they’ll do much of anything. June’s been easily the lowpoint of this season for New York, and the team came together after the 4-0 loss to talk over their performance and remind themselves that they’re still the team that has been pacing the league in offensive production beforehand.
CBS Sports | R.J. Anderson: Speaking of that streak, it’s getting into historic territory for the franchise. They tied their franchise record with a third straight goose egg, and their 28 consecutive scoreless innings is the fourth longest that they’ve endured, just behind the 33, 32, and 31 innings that the 2016, 1991, and 2015 teams respectively went through without a run.
MLB.com | Mark Feinsand: The offense sure could use a spark right now, and perhaps they’ll find one on the trade market? Deadline season is on the horizon, and Feinsand looks at some of the most likely names to move around the league. He connects the Yankees to two of them: third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Rockies and right-hander Freddy Peralta from the Brewers. McMahon has heated up after a rocky start and would be on the books for 2026 and 2027 at a reasonable $12 and $16 million for those two years, while Peralta holds an $8 million club option next year.
FanGraphs | Michael Rosen: This isn’t a Yankees-centric post, but a couple familiar names pop up in it. Take a look at Rosen’s deep dive into the oddity of the changeup, and what makes them so effective despite a wild range of utility. The Airbender makes it on one of the charts that Rosen sites for his elite Miss Distance, and Max Fried gets a mention for his changing arm angle when tossing his changeup. Give it a read, it’s a doozy.
