SEATTLE — Instant reactions from the Red Sox’ 3-1 win over the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park on Wednesday:

1) Boston won the three-game series 2-1 and improved to 39-37. The Mariners dropped to 37-36.

2) Ace Garrett Crochet allowed just one run, six hits and no walks while striking out eight in 6 innings. His ERA dropped to 2.20. He got 17 swings and misses. The lefty threw 35 cutters (four swings-and-misses), 26 four-seam fastballs (four swings and misses), 18 sweepers (five swings and misses), nine sinkers (two swings and misses) and eight changeups (two swings and misses). His four-seam fastball topped out at 97.0 mph and averaged 95.7 mph.

3) Trevor Story’s 10th homer of the season was a two-run shot that put the Red Sox ahead 3-1 in the fourth inning. He hit it 402 feet with a 107.3 mph exit velocity.

4) Marcelo Mayer belted his fourth homer to put the Red Sox ahead 1-0 in the second inning. It went 379 feet to right field with a 96.3 mph exit velocity.

5) Garrett Whitlock threw a perfect seventh inning (strikeout, two groundouts). He has allowed just one run in his past 15 innings (12 outings) dating back to May 17.

6) Aroldis Chapman pitched the eighth inning against the Mariners’ No. 1-3 hitters. He got Dylan Moore to ground out, Julio Rodríguez to strike out swinging and Cal Raleigh to ground out to third.

7) Greg Weissert pitched the ninth. It was his third save in his past six appearances.

8) The Mariners tied it 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning when Jarren Duran missed a fly ball in left field. He had it in the glove and dropped it after he appeared to be battling the sun. Randy Arozarena was awarded a double, then scored on a wild pitch.

9) The Red Sox will have Thursday off. They begin a three-game series against Rafael Devers and the Giants on Friday at Oracle Park.
