{KXLG – Omaha, NE} The Arrows’ first game against Millard North, Nebraska, ended in a narrow 8-7 walk-off defeat. The score was tied at seven heading into the bottom of the seventh inning when Millard North’s Alex Bureah singled to drive in the winning run. For Watertown, Hayden Ries contributed two hits and one RBI. Pitcher Cain Everson threw 4 2/3 innings, giving up seven runs on nine hits and issuing two walks.

Watertown’s struggles continued in their second game, as they were shut out 9-0 by Grand Island, Nebraska. Hayden Ries once again led the offense, accounting for two of the Arrows’ four hits in the game. On the mound, Kooper Heiser pitched five innings, allowing six runs on six hits while striking out three and walking five.

Watertown’s overall record is now 11-6 in league play and 22-18 overall. The team will continue tournament play tonight in Omaha, facing Fremont, Nebraska, at 7:30 p.m.
