ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The Atlanta Braves host the New York Mets for the finale of a three-game series Thursday night at Truist Park in Atlanta.
And with that, the Braves will be going for their first sweep since April 18-20, when Atlanta swept the Minnesota Twins. The game will be aired live on Gray Media.
“(Getting the sweep) would be a momentum shift for us,” Braves outfielder Alex Verdugo said. “I think already winning two is a good sign especially in our division.
“We’re at a point where every game matters and we need to win each one.”
Atlanta is coming off a dominant showing Wednesday, where starting pitcher Chris Sale threw 8.2 shutout innings to help the Braves win 5-0, the team’s sixth win in their last eight games.
Spencer Strider takes the mound for Atlanta on Thursday. On Saturday against Colorado, Strider struck out 13 hitters across six innings of work. It’s still a small sample size, but Strider’s ERA is down to 4.35 after being 5.68 after his start against the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 3.
