Bexar County inmate death ruled homicide, Texas Rangers investigating

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The death of another inmate in the Bexar County Jail is now considered a homicide, and the Texas Rangers are now investigating.

Robert Parker, 48, was taken off life support on Thursday after he was attacked in the jail June 2.

Investigators say a nurse conducting medical checks saw Parker being assaulted by Tommy Lucero, 45. Parker was rushed to the hospital unresponsive, and he was taken off live support after 17 days.

Parker’s cause of death has yet to be determined, but it is being attributed to injuries sustained during the assault.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is also conducting its own investigation.

Lucero was already facing a charge of burglary of a building, but now faces additional charges.
