Oregon softball has found its next shortstop.
Addison Amaral, a two-time all-ACC selection at Notre Dame, signed with the Ducks. She has two years of eligibility remaining.
Amaral led the Fighting Irish in hitting (.365), home runs (nine) and RBIs (43) while starting all 55 games this season, including 53 at shortstop, en route to third team all-ACC honors.
“Addi is a very impressive athlete,” Oregon coach Melyssa Lombardi said in a statement. “I like her range up the middle and her ability to make the 50-50 plays look easy.
”Addi is a proven hitter from one of the premier conferences in our sport. I love her leadership on the field and her enthusiasm for playing the game. She will be an excellent fit for us. I look forward to watching her finish her career as a Duck.”
In two years at Notre Dame, Amaral hit .352 with 19 home runs and 96 RBIs with 108 starts.
Originally from Salinas, Calif., Amaral replaces Paige Sinicki, who started the past four seasons at shortstop for the Ducks.
Amaral is the second transfer to sign with Oregon this offseason, joining former Cal outfielder Elon Butler.
