Mariners 5, Cubs 3

BET MARINERS (-115).

The Mariners are in a great position to close out the series with a win on Sunday afternoon. Despite a recent slump, they’re a solid road team (18-18) and are tied for the best road batting average in MLB at .268. Gilbert takes the mound for Seattle, and he’s been in top form—allowing no more than 2 earned runs in each of his last 5 starts. The Cubs counter with Rea, who hasn’t earned a win since May 12 and has surrendered 18 earned runs over his last 4 outings (21 innings).

While Chicago owns a strong home record (25-14), they’re hitting just .240 at Wrigley (22nd in MLB) and only .204 on Sundays this season across 12 games. With the pitching edge and stronger road production, Seattle is the pick to wrap up the series with a win.

PASS.

I’m tempted to take the Mariners on the run line, but I’ll play it safe and keep my bet to the moneyline.

BET UNDER 11.5 (-105).

The 11.5 run total feels a bit too high for Sunday’s matchup, especially with a strong arm like Gilbert on the mound. The Under has hit in 4 of the last 6 meetings between the Mariners and Cubs, and Chicago has stayed Under in 5 of its last 8 games.
