What do you love about baseball?: Being able to be around my best friends. I just love the sport. I’ve played it my whole life. I’ve always loved it.

Most memorable moment in baseball: My eighth-grade year, I was playing on Handley’s JV team. [Handley’s] Erik Torres hit a walk-off bunt to beat Fauquier. They were kind of our rivals at the time. That was a crazy game and it was really fun to be at. I was on first base after getting walked the at-bat prior, and after [Torres] hit it and the guy on third scored, we all just dogpiled. It was great.

Most embarrassing moment in baseball: My sophomore year, I was in left field, and my teammate Lucas Mammano was the center fielder. I did not communicate, and he ended up taking a dumb fall. It was all my fault.

Most difficult moment in baseball: Just getting in a slump. It’s a mental game. If I get in a slump, then it’s hard to get out of it.

Three people you can have dinner with, dead or alive: My older brother [Kaplan]; he’s been a real great role model to me. I’ve always kind of looked up to him. My father; because he’s just always been there at every single one of my games. And my grandpa Bob; I never met him, but my dad has always told me stories about him. It would have been awesome to meet him.

Biggest athletic influence: [Philadelphia Phillies shortstop] Trea Turner. I’ve just always liked the way he plays. He’s awesome.

Favorite teachers: My art teacher, Mr. James Quinn. I had him for a year in middle school and junior year in high school. He is also the JV coach for baseball. My other one is my middle school woodworking teacher, Mr. Drew Lamb. They were good teachers because of their positive attitudes toward trying to make every student interested and engaged in what they were teaching.

Favorite athlete: Trea Turner

Favorite sports team: Washington Nationals

Favorite movie: “Ratatouille”

Favorite TV show: “Lost”

Favorite song: ”Don’t Think Jesus” by Morgan Wallen

Favorite food: My grandmother’s tater tot casserole

Worst thing you’ve eaten: Quinoa

Plans after high school: I’m going to walk-on for baseball at Regent University and study business and leadership. (Regent University, located in Virginia Beach, is starting NCAA Division III provisional membership in 2025-26.) I took a business marketing class at Handley. I did really well in it and I really enjoyed it, so that appealed to me as a major.
