Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino exited Saturday’s spring training game against the Texas Rangers with a right hamstring strain.

In the fifth inning, Pasquantino pulled up with a slight limp after running down the first-base line. He was able to walk off the field with Royals head athletic trainer Kyle Turner.

The Royals later announced Pasquantino will receive more evaluation. He told MLB.com reporter Anne Rogers in Surprise, Arizona that he felt fine despite the injury.

Pasquantino enters his fourth MLB season. In 2024, he missed significant time with a right thumb injury before returning in the playoffs. The Royals depend on his offensive production in the lineup.

Last season, Pasquantino hit .262 with 19 home runs and 97 RBIs in 131 games.

“He was coming out anyway,” Royals manager Matt Quatraro told reporters postgame in Surprise. “He got so far down there, which surprised me as I thought he would turn around. … What I saw, it looked like he may have hit his foot on the bag. But I don’t know. I haven’t heard anything yet.”

KC will play two final exhibition games against the Rangers at Globe Life Field in the upcoming days. Opening Day is scheduled for March 27 against the Cleveland Guardians at Kauffman Stadium.
