MILWAUKEE — Freddy Peralta continues to dazzle. The righthander won his last two starts, his first time notching consecutive wins this season, and is hungry for more.

Peralta will go for a third consecutive victory when he and the Milwaukee Brewers host the Pittsburgh Pirates Tuesday night on TW. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m.

The Brewers are hoping to bounce back after a tight 5-4 loss to the Pirates on Monday. Christian Yelich had a great day, going 2-3 with a 2-run home run, but the Crew simply couldn’t overcome the Pirates’ 14 hits and early run scoring.

Peralta gets the start against Pittsburgh for the second time this year. He took the mound in the Steel City on May 23, allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run over 4.1 innings, with 3 strikeouts. The Brewers went on to lose the game in extra innings after Adam Frazier scored on a wild pitch from Abner Uribe.

Opposing Peralta will be lefthander Andrew Heaney, who was credited with losses in his last two starts. Heaney has made four previous starts against the Brewers, but this will be his third in Milwaukee and his first as a member of the Pirates.

Heaney lost in his last two starts at 1 Brewers Way. As a member of the Rangers last year, he allowed 6 hits and 2 runs over 5 innings. In 2022 while with the Dodgers, he allowed 3 home runs over 4.2 innings but did strike out 10 batters.

The Brewers need to grab every win they can, especially when on home turf. Last week’s sweep of the Twins helped close the gap with the Cubs for first place in the NL Central to 3.5 games, but the Brewers have to keep pace in order to have a fighting chance at the division title after the All-Star break.

Pittsburgh, on the other hand, are in need of some serious help. At 32-48, they’re 15 games out of first in the division and 11.5 out of the Wild Card race. While there’s still plenty of season left, they can’t afford to lose any more ground.

The Pirates have an identical record to the floundering [FKA Oakland] Athletics. The only teams worse are the Chicago White Sox, who set a record for most losses in a season last year, and the Colorado Rockies who are on pace to smash that unwanted record.
