After losing their series opener to the Atlanta Braves on Monday, the New York Mets have now lost two consecutive games and nine of their last 10. Amid their slump, New York is now 1.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies for the lead in the NL East, and they have been one of the worst teams in the MLB in the month of June.

On Tuesday, the Mets will take on the Braves for the second game of their four-game series in hopes of getting things back on track. However, New York made a big decision ahead of the game, and fans took to social media to make it clear they are not too happy about it.

As the Mets aim to turn things around, they will have a new face on the mound on Tuesday night. According to the team’s official X account, they have reinstated RHP Frankie Montas from the 60-day IL, and he will make his first start of the season against Atlanta.
In his four rehab starts in Triple-A Syracuse, Montas struggled heavily, recording a 13.19 ERA in 14.1 innings pitched, allowing eight home runs, six walks, and throwing just six strikeouts.

Following the Mets’ Montas announcement, fans made it clear that they were upset.
“13.19 ERA in the minors. Are the Mets trying to lose?” one fan wrote on X.
“Montas is about to get absolutely destroyed,” wrote another.
“Fantastic time to bring in Montas. Critical divisional games and you start this guy? There has to be someone else in the minors who’s ready to go. C’mon,” a third fan wrote.
“Omg Montas is getting shelled tonight 😭😭😭,” wrote a fourth fan.
Despite his poor rehab starts, the Dominican Republic native was solid with the Milwaukee Brewers last season. As the Mets look to gain some momentum, they will rely on Montas to help them do so on Tuesday night.
