CRYSTAL — The Alexandria Redbirds, a 50-and-up amateur baseball team, breezed to victory over the St. Michael Angels and the Crystal Cubs in four innings on Saturday in Crystal.

The Redbirds won both games 13-0 in four innings in both games to get to 4-0 on the season.

Lee Sykora shut out the Angels in the Redbirds’ first game of the day, then Greg Serum pitched a shutout against the Cubs in the second game of the day.

“We’re clicking right now,” manager Jon Brundell said. “And when you get this kind of production from the lineup and back-to-back shut-down starts, you’re going to win a lot of ballgames.”

Randy Roers and Jerrod Kelley had six hits on the day for the Redbirds, while Brundell, Joe Korkowski, and Chad Moritz had four.

Kurtis Kuhn had three hits for the Redbirds, while Sykora had three hits, Bob Brittin, Greg Serum, and Tony Roeser had one.

The Redbirds are off for a bit as their next games are nearly a month away. The Redbirds are back on the road on July 19 to face the St. Louis Park Bees in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
