LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Mr. October is coming to Las Vegas this summer.
Battle for Vegas, the charity softball matchup, says Baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson will serve as an honorary co-captain.
He will also throw out the first pitch for the game at Las Vegas Ballpark on Saturday, July 12.
Jackson played 21 seasons in Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees, Kansas City/Oakland Athletics, Baltimore Orioles and California Angels.
He won five World Series championships as a member of the A’s and Yankees, and his postseason heroics earned him the nickname “Mr. October.”

Jackson’s inclusion comes as the Athletics work to grow their presence in Las Vegas ahead of the team’s planned relocation to Southern Nevada in 2028. The baseball team is already sponsoring Battle for Vegas’ home run derby.
“We’re proud to support Battle For Vegas and the incredible work it does to bring the community together through the power of sports and philanthropy,” A’s president Marc Badain said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to have Reggie Jackson and Terrance Long representing us on the field this year.”
Jack Eichel is returning as captain of the Vegas Golden Knights’ team at this year’s game, while Brock Bowers will lead the Las Vegas Raiders and friends.
