JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — Liberty rallied with a three-run sixth inning to tie its baseball game against Routt after being since the first, with neither team being able to score in seventh.

Gavin Edgar then delivered a clutch RBI single in the eighth inning to put Liberty ahead, with the Eagles holding on for a 7-6 victory after sitting down the Rockets in the bottom half.

Edgar also started the game and went five innings with two strikeouts, while allowing five hits, five walks and three earned runs. He had a no-decision.

Reed Sparrow pitched the final three innings in relief to earn the win, allowing just two hits, one walk and one earned run.

Eagles shorstop Jack Sparrow went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run, while center fielder Lane Bent went 2-for-3 with a run. First baseman Jackson Sims went 2-for-4.

Liberty also took advantage of five Routt errors, with all but one run unearned for the Rockets.

Up next for Liberty (11-9) is a home game against Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, with the Eagles holding senior night.
