The Texas Rangers scored seven runs while the Baltimore Orioles scored zero runs.
The first half of the 2025 baseball season was filled with ups and downs for the Rangers almost to the point of normalcy as they clock in a game below .500 now at the halfway mark.
Consider tonight a very large up.
While claiming their fourth road series in a row, the Rangers enjoyed one of their most productive nights at the plate with seven runs on nine hits. Highlights included a three-hit night from Marcus Semien, a home run and three-RBI night from Josh Jung, and a home run and double from Jonah Heim.
All three of those players are regulars in the lineup that were expected to contribute to a great offense this season. All three have struggled along with much of the lineup in the first half. Tonight, however, the lineup looked more like the version that was expected as the Rangers finish with a 4-2 road trip.
Player of the Game: Consider the lede buried as tonight was all about Jacob deGrom. The living legend was perfect through six innings and took a no-hitter into the eighth in a performance that was nearly as good as they get.
The veteran ace seemed to have that rare combination of stuff and command to do something special all evening. deGrom got seven outs via a strikeout and walked a couple in his seven innings of work on 89 pitches.
Colton Cowser led off the eighth with a single through the right side of the infield for the first Baltimore hit and the last pitch by deGrom. After seven scoreless, deGrom’s ERA was lowered to a scant 2.08 through the season’s first half.
Up Next: The Rangers get a day off on Thursday before returning home for a big series against the hated Mariners from The Shed beginning on Friday night.
