Hey, Hoynsie: Looking back at the last few years, are there any trades that the Guardians wish that they could have back? — Ryan Moran, Austin, Texas.

Hey, Ryan: Every president of baseball operations or general manager has a personal list of bad deals that they’ve made.

Near the top of the Guardians’ list is the trade of third baseman Junior Caminero to the Rays for right-hander Tobias Myers on Nov. 19, 2021. Caminero, 21, is hitting .256 (77 for 301) with 20 homers, 51 RBI and a .811 OPS this season for the Rays.

Caminero has a chance to be just the fourth 21-year-old to hit 40 homers in a season. Ronald Acuna Jr., Mel Ott and Eddie Matthews are the only three players to do it.

Myers, who never made it past Triple-A Columbus with the Guardians, is with Milwaukee and won nine games last year.

Hey, Hoynsie: When the Cleveland’s injured pitchers come off their rehab assignments, do any of them have options left? — Patrick Grijak, Garfield Heights.

Hey, Patrick: Some do, some don’t. Left-hander Erik Sabrowski just came off the injured list and was added to the 40-man and 26-man rosters on Friday. He has three options left.

Veteran Paul Sewald threw a scoreless inning Friday at Double-A Akron in his rehab assignment. He has no options left.

Hey, Hoynsie: I wonder if anyone has connected the dots between all the errors the Guardians have made this season, and asking most of the players to play multiple positions? I think the musical chairs in the field has to stop because their low run production can’t overcome all the extra at bats created by the errors. — Bud, Arizona.

Hey, Bud: The Guardians have made the second most errors (58) in the AL this season. The position juggling probably has something to do with that, but they used the same strategy last year and were one of the best defensive teams in baseball.

You could point to the departure of the right side of the infield — Andres Gimenez and Josh Naylor. But the Guardians’ play at second base has been solid and Gold Glover Carlos Santana replaced Naylor at first.

Could Jhonkensy Noel be the Guadians’ first baseman of the future?John Kuntz, cleveland.com

Hey, Hoynsie: I saw Jhonkensy Noel play first base recently when the Guardians were in Des Moines playing the Cubs’ Triple-A team. Is the plan to trade Carlos Santana and bring up Noel to play first? — Gene La Suer Des Moines, Iowa.

Hey, Gene: Noel played sparingly at first base last year for the Guardians. But I’m not sure the plan is to play him fulltime at first if and when he returns to Cleveland. I like him better in right field regardless of what the Guardians do with Santana.

Hey, Hoynsie: Do the Guards have any plans to jump start their offense by either bringing up some Triple-A AAA players or making a trade for a bat? — Jim Mullen, Bay Village.

Hey, Jim: After averaging 2.9 runs per game through most of June, I would hope so.

Hey, Hoynsie: Do you think Shane Bieber is the key to making the playoffs? The Guards are hovering just outside the last wild card spot. Or would the struggling offense negate his contribution? — Tim Johnson, Rockville, Indiana.

Hey, Tim: I think a healthy Bieber could help, but I think it’s unfair to think he would be the deciding factor in the Guardians making the postseason. They need the entire roster to play better on both sides of the baseball.

Hey, Hoynsie: Who is faster, Sonic the Hedgehog or The Flash? — Xavier, North Olmsted.

Hey, Xavier: I’m going with Kenny Lofton in a photo finish over The Flash, a member of the Justice League of America.

Hey, Hoynsie: If you were running the Guardians, what would you do in right field? — Tony Mollica, The Plains, Ohio.

Hey, Tony: If I can’t bring Manny Ramirez out of retirement, I’d move Lane Thomas to right field and play Angel Martinez in center. I’d keep them there as much as possible against lefties and righties just to see how they shake out.

DeLauter

Hey, Hoynsie: Any chance that Chase DeLauter will be called up before the All-star break? — John Coulter, Pikeville, North Carolina.

Hey, John: There’s always a chance, but in the big picture the All-Star break has little to do with when DeLauter will be promoted. The Guardians are concerned with DeLauter proving he can stay healthy while playing regularly. He was hitting .314 (27 for 86) with three homers, 14 RBI and a .934 OPS in 24 games since he was promoted from the Arizona Rookie League following surgery for a sports hernia.
