The Boston Red Sox have hit a season low. After getting swept by the Los Angeles Angels to begin the week, the Red Sox lost Friday night 9-0 to the Toronto Blue Jays to extend their season-long losing streak to six games.

Prior to the team’s loss on Friday, outfielder Jarren Duran spoke on the Section 10 Podcast about the team’s recent struggles.
“It just pisses me off sometimes when people think that we don’t [expletive] care. Because we [expletive] care,” Duran said. “When people tell us that we don’t care, it’s like, what are we supposed to do, walk around and mope around because we [expletive] lost? No, we have a [expletive] half a season [expletive] to play. If you guys want us to [expletive] mope around, we’ll [expletive] mope around.
“When people are like, ‘Oh, it seems like they don’t care.’ Well, no [expletive], because we got 80 more [expletive] games to play. I gotta forget about that game and move onto the next one.”
Duran is leaning on the next game mentality, which may be all the Red Sox can do at this point. The team traded away their superstar Rafael Devers, and after a five-game win streak, they have spiraled downhill.

Boston sits three games under .500 and fourth in their division, with one of the youngest teams in baseball. The Red Sox also lead the league in errors, which has drawn criticism from fans about whether or not the players are focused.
However, Duran sent a pretty clear message to fans on the podcast. Even if it doesn’t seem that way, he’s always giving his all.

“I want to do everything in my power to help the team win and help anybody in any way I can. I always play the game as hard as I can and I want to win,” Duran said. “It may not [expletive] seem like it sometimes – maybe I’m 0-for-4 with three [strikeouts], that’s part of baseball – but I want to win. …. I hate to [expletive] lose. I hate to lose more than I like to win. Nobody hates [expletive] losing more than me and the guys on the team.”

The Red Sox will be back in action Saturday against the Blue Jays with Lucas Giolito on the mound to try to end their six-game losing streak. In Giolito’s previous three starts, he’s given up just two earned runs over 18 innings pitched.
