The Colorado Rockies (18-64) fell short once again on Friday night in the first game of the weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers (46-36). Things looked promising at one point that they could pull off the comeback but late game heroics by the Brew Crew left the Rockies in the dust once again.

They’ll look to rebound in the second game with Antonio Senzatela (3-10, 6.48 ERA) taking the mound for the Rockies. Senza has looked good over his last two starts, allowing three runs on seven hits in 10 1⁄3 innings of work. He hasn’t been giving the Rockies much length, last at least five full innings just four times since the start of May. Walks have been an issue this month, but he did manage a season-high five strikeouts in his last start at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Still, contact-heavy teams like the Brewers will always present a challenge for Senzatela if he’s not inducing weak contact.

Quinn Priester (5-2, 3.68 ERA) has been a pleasant revelation for Milwaukee since they acquired him from the Boston Red Sox in early April. He slotted in immediately for the Brewers in the rotation and has done well in his 14 appearances. Priester has regularly worked at least five innings in the majority of his starts while allowing three runs or fewer. He is coming off the shortest outing of the season, where he allowed three runs on nine hits in 3 1⁄3 innings against the Minnesota Twins. He has limited walks this month and can tally up the punchouts, averaging about three or four a game.
