The Milwaukee Brewers have made a few roster moves after optioning RHP Elvin Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville Thursday afternoon. The team announced this morning that LHP Bryan Hudson is headed back to join the major league squad as a corresponding move. Additionally, infielder Vinny Capra has been designated for assignment, with infielder Andruw Monasterio also recalled from Nashville to replace him.
We had previously reported yesterday that Logan Henderson was potentially the replacement for Rodriguez — that did not come to fruition as Henderson made the start for the Sounds last night.
Hudson, who came over in a trade with the Dodgers last January, had a strong start to his Brewers tenure but has struggled to stay consistent since last year’s All-Star break. Through 11 appearances (8 2⁄3 innings) with Milwaukee this season, he allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits and nine walks with nine strikeouts. Since being sent to Nashville near the end of April, he hasn’t had flashy numbers (3 ER, 6 H, 5 K), but he has avoided walking any hitters over four innings. All three of those runs came in a single appearance against Gwinnett last weekend.
More to come.
