J.D. Martinez remains a free agent, but apparently has an offer on the table to return to MLB.
The former Boston Red Sox slugger received a non-guaranteed contract offer from the Texas Rangers, The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported.

It’s unclear if the 37-year-old, who’s been working out in Miami to stay in shape in case the right offer comes along, will accept Texas’ offer.
Martinez spent the 2024 season with the New York Mets and batted .235 with 16 home runs and 69 RBI. His batting average was the lowest since the 2020 season when Martinez batted .213 in the shortened year.
The 2018 Red Sox champion was briefly connected to the New York Yankees in the offseason, but the two sides were never close on a deal.
The veteran‘s power has declined over the years, but the Rangers — who are 5-5 in their last 10 games — could use someone of his caliber.

The Rangers are fourth in the American League West with a 41-42 record.
