Phillies Predicted to Replace Bryson Stott With Team USA Infielder Sean Gamble originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Philadelphia Phillies hold the 26th pick in the 2025 MLB draft and have a few ways they can go. For the Phillies, the window to win a World Series is right now.

Now, that can play a factor for a few reasons.

If the Phillies believe that they won’t win a World Series in the next year or two, they’ll likely go in a different direction. At that point, selecting the players they need in the MLB draft would be a wise decision. If they want to go with the player with the most potential and try to use them as a trade chip, there’s a reason to believe that could work, too, depending on what the plan is.

Selecting a high school or college player shouldn’t be too big of a factor for the Phillies, as they have multiple top prospects who could make their debut sometime in the near future. MLB.com recently predicted them to land on a high school player in the form of Sean Gamble, a second baseman/outfielder out of IMG Academy.

“Another team with a recent history of high school picks, Gamble does give off some Bryson Stott vibes. If they want an arm, lefty flamethrower Jack Bauer could be discussed and a college hitter like Ethan Conrad could come into play,” they wrote.

Gamble is a physical 6-foot-2, 185-pound Vanderbilt commit.

With his commitment to Vanderbilt, it isn’t often easy to get players to sign out of high school unless the Phillies are willing to give him the full slot value.

However, if Gamble goes in the first round, there’s reason to believe he’d take the money that the Phillies can offer. According to Perfect Game, he’s the sixth-ranked player in the nation and No. 1 in Iowa.
