The Los Angeles Dodgers wrapped up their three-game series against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday with a 5-1 win, taking two out of three games on the road.
They opened the series with a 5-4 victory, dropped the second game 9-5, and bounced back in the finale.
Kiké Hernández launched a two-run homer and Will Smith added a solo shot in Sunday’s rain-delayed game.
Rookie left-hander Justin Wrobleski delivered a strong start, tossing six innings of three-hit ball in place of opener Lou Trivino. The bullpen backed him up with scoreless frames from Kirby Yates and Jack Dreyer to seal the win. Wrobleski improved to 4-2 on the season.
Max Muncy and Miguel Rojas each contributed RBIs, as the Dodgers extended their streak to six straight series wins and improved to 6-1 over their last seven games.
Royals starter Kris Bubic (6-6) gave up Hernández’s homer and finished with three hits and two walks allowed over five innings, striking out five. Despite a solid 2.25 ERA over his last five starts, Bubic has dropped four of them. Bobby Witt Jr.’s RBI double in the first was Kansas City’s lone run.
The Dodgers will get a day off on Monday before opening a six-game homestand on Tuesday night against the Chicago White Sox.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto is set to start the opener. Meanwhile, the Royals hit the road for a seven-game trip, beginning Monday in Seattle.
All Dodgers Games can be heard on AM 1220 and FM 98.1.
